After the release of EU’s restrictions on textile recycling, sports giants are exploring all the possibilities on developing environmental-friendly fibers to follow suit. Companies such as Adidas, Gymshark, Nike, etc., have released collections that mostly contain recycled fabrics. However, maintaining the basic properties and performance of these fibers still needs to be addressed. Let’s check the latest trends in this industry last week.

Fabrics&Products

On March. 20th, the innovative textile and apparel company Evrnu released their first eco-friendly hoodie made with the latest 100% NuCycl-lyocell fiber to the market. Fibers

On March 18th, the Finnish fiber manufacturer Spinnova signed an LOI with Suzano to provide their latest facilities and technologies of producing wooden fibers in their new factories. The construction of the factory is expected to start in the second half of 2024.

On March 5th, the US outdoor brand The North Face and “BOTTLE” (Bio-Optimised Technologies to keep Thermoplastics out of Landfills and the Environment) researchers from US department of energy unveiled the collaboration on developing bio-based, biodegradable PHA fibers. The plan is set up to reduce the pollution from microplastic textiles. The North Face is seeking the possibilities of using these latest fibers in their products in the following.

Color Trends

Brand News

The US-based active wear brand Outdoor Voices announced that it will close all of its offline chain stores and reduce staff, but the online store will remain operational.

The brand established in 2020 by Tyler Haney, was ambitious to become the second “Lululemon” in US. However after the resigned of Tyler and the lack of funds during the pandemic, the brand strategy didn’t adapt the changes of markets as soon as other sports brand.

The challenges that the Outdoor Voices faced actually are common for most brand startups. As market segments expanding, brands need to acknowledge that consumers have higher requirement for active wear brands that could offer a variety of active clothing to meet different needs, otherwise they will be susceptible to competition. Therefore, it is important to scale your brand idea and find a reliable and professional supplier that could keep up the market demands.

As a mature manufacturer serving multiple global sports brands, Arabella is also expanding its services and seeking a path to provide more unique an professional advice in this market. We will keep our minds open to explore more in sportswear with you.

Stay tuned, and we will see you next week!
