Fibers

(Dec 19th)

Swedish KTH Royal Institute of Technology’s Professor Helena Lundberg collaborated with University of Stockholm team to synthesize the latest renewable lignin-based raw material, bisguaiacol F, which probably replaces the traditional bisphenol A (BPA) raw material. The material is designed based on EU SSbD design structure and efficiently declines the chemical exposure risk and compounded burden during the early-stage of new polymer material development. Along with people’s pursuit of non-BPA and non-toxic materials, this innovation has become one of the essential breakthroughs for the clothing industry.

Colors

(Dec 22nd)

This article primarily outlines the characteristics and application cases of five trend colors predicted by Coloro for 2026. Among them is one key color, Transformative Teal, as predicted by Coloro. The other four colors include Electric Purple, Vital Green, Rich Deep Red, and Clear Radiant Blue, along with examples of their usage. Here are their summaries as below:

1. Transformative Teal

Characteristics:

As one of the key colors in 2026/2027, Transformative Teal meets consumers’consciousness of ecological responsibility as well as longing for tranquility and healing.

Case:

Dutch artist Boris Acket designed attractive sports equipment to transform the empty space into a remarkable and immersive experience. In his latest project of SEA/SKY, he uses this color to explore its soporific tone through drifting knitting fabrics.

2. Electric Purple

Characteristics:

Electric Purple combines digital with dynamic styles. As AI continuously challenges people’s perceptions of reality, Electric Purple – a psychedelic fluorescent color – will bring a multi-sensory experience to the virtual world of the future.

Case:

In Eva Fàbregas’ work Pumping, Electric Purple embodies a post-human aesthetic from another world, with enormous, humanoid organ-like tubes twisting through a room bathed in pink lighting.

3. Vital Green

Characteristics:

This translation reflects the vibrant, energetic nature of the color, aligning with its intended meaning. Vital Green is a cross-seasonal mid-tone. This hue is vibrant and surreal, inspired by the greenhouse tropics driven by climate urgency and the demands of fluid ecosystems.

4. Burgundy Red

Characteristics:

Driven by the demand for less but more refined and extra-long-lasting products, Burgundy Red demonstrates timeless potential with its appeal that transcends age, season, and gender.

Case:

In the exhibition “Unveiling the Veil: The Power and Politics of Textiles in Art” at the Barbican Centre, artist Cecilia Vicuña showcases the power of ancient practices and communication with nature by suspending flowing ribbons in Burgundy Red and plant-based hues from the ceiling.

5. Clear Radiance Blue

Characteristics:

Clear Radiance Blue is a soft, powdery pastel shade, defined by a calming yet contemporary character. With its ethereal, softly luminous finish, it pairs beautifully with biodegradable, non-toxic design approaches, as well as recycled industrial waste materials or pigmented plaster.

Case:

At Milan Design Week, Aura by Atelier oï PRIVÉ draws inspiration from natural phenomena, transforming molten glass into distinctive lighting pieces that diffuse a soft pale blue glow into the space through subtle luminosity created by refraction and impurities.
